it has been 150 years since the war of independence. but the memory is still as fresh as ever. this year, India marked the 150th year of the war of independence, often called the Indian mutiny by the British.

from the persepective of the colonists, it was a  mutiny. but for the people of India it was a war of independence. this gives us an idea of how the same event could be shown in different limelights and given different meanings.the intrigue arose not by any political or economic act of the Bristishers but due to the use of pig and cow’s meat in the enfield gun which the britishers exchanged for the old mughal style mastung.both the hindus and muslim communities resented this move because pig was prohibited in the muslim religion and cow is sacred in Islam.hence the soldiers of both believes rose against the britishers in 1857.
